Track Reveiw:

Search Party
‘Seminal’

The Belfast-based four-piece band, suffering from the separation brought about by the coronavirus in this rather bumpy year for all, had a quiet 2020 in terms of musical output. After finally being able to get together and record once again, Search Party release ‘Seminal’ – a track that is writhing with the infectious energy that the indie-rock group has become well-known for, and makes absolutely clear that these lads intend to continue producing the goods.

The instrumentals are as sharp as ever, with some driving guitar riffs that create a sound that is classic yet fresh, Search Party looking to utilise the best of 70s rock styles into their own modern sound, similar to bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal. There is some great songwriting on display here also, the band producing one of their catchiest choruses to date, and lyrics that call to mind the power that toxic people in our lives have over us, drawing us in despite our knowledge of the harm they cause. Search Party show no sign of letting up after a difficult year, and ‘Seminal’ provides the proof.
